My GT has a lowering kit on it from Moss. Not to difficult.
Roll bars that only attach in the back are dangerous on roll over.

Question #1.  Do early (mid-60s) Bs have anti-roll bars?  If not, does anyone have experience with the difficulty and improvement of adding one to these models?

Question #2.  Does anyone have experience with lowering a late model (1978) B.  I'm interested to know if it is difficult and worth it?

Re: MGB Anti-Roll Bars

I can't speak to MGBs, but yes, in general ant-roll bars really do help handling. Here's my TD at the Put-in-Bay races without an anti-roll bar (factory setup)...

Notice the rear wheel burying itself in the wheel arch! We were flat out, and I was pushing it hard to slide a bit to get the best turns, but the car just wouldn't slide for me.

Here's Kurt Byrnes on the same track, in his really trick TD (He says "Hey, I was just out for a drive when all these cars started chasing me!" 😆)

Notice how much flatter it rides - so much so that not one, but BOTH wheels come off.

Yeah, an anti-roll bar definitely helps if you're gonna push the car hard. 🙂  If not... well, it also makes the car ride a bit nicer through the curves.

Cheers,
Kevin

Roger,
I can (sort of) answer #2. I had my GT lowered by Pete Cosmides. You could contact him about how easily it can be done. “Safety Fast!”

Q1, I added a roll bar to my 75 roadster and it helped but as I understand there are differences in the diameter which result in different handling characteristics.

Q2, Moss sells a kit for lowering. I have not done it but supposedly it does result in improved handling. Just makes getting in and out a bit harder

Also Pete has retired so Sweeney might be your man.

Yes, very much so. At one time I had a 1967 roadster and after Pete lowered my GT it had the handling I remembered from the B.

Remember your membership runs from January to December no matter when you originally joined.  That said if you just joined (any time starting in October 2022 until now) then you can disregard this email because when you joined you paid for the rest of 2022 and all of 2023.  If you have decided that now is not the right time for you to renew I totally understand, I just ask that you send me an email and let me know.

I would love to have all renewals in by the end of December this year.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me (please reply to me only (kliebel@...) so we don’t fill up everyone’s mailboxes).

I look forward to a wonderful PMGC year!
